Some recent found object sculpture work that deals with the idea of a disposable culture and the living entities within objects. Much of the material is salvaged from different abandonded buildings and unoccupied spaces.

Here is some more collaborative work from over the summer that was sponsered by Freshout Productions, a 'Stop the Violence' Event aiming to effect Philadelphia's high murder rate this past year. David Solan, Sam Meyerson, and me worked together on a series of canvases that were later shown at F.E.U.L. gallery. They were painted live at a summer event.

I did some street art installations over the summer in Copenhagen and Amsterdam, here are some photos of the figures I did from drawings while there, as well as some of the people around the cities. The faces and figures had a mechanical energy as I am becoming more interested in culture as a mechanical form, visually. Hold Det Gade is danish for Keep it Street.

'His face was a lifetime collection of scars from around the world. The wrinkles went through his cheeks like slashes from a knife. The skin on each side was relocating, trying to form its own little island, separating itself from its other half, as a smile crept across his face.' -exert from a work in progress called "Dislocation from the Apparatus at Hand"
This peice is about my recent struggle to support myself and all my addictions through mundane, pointless, mindnumbing day-jobs... I think almost everyone can relate... so I did a street art project about this in West Philly to keep myself part of a mechanism that is still working against the mind-fuck industry.

here are pictures from last years installation that was showing at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts in Philadelphia. It includes paintings, sculptures, and a sound piece that all revolved around a certain mood and atmosphere pertaining to the urban trance. It was a great experience installing the sound in a gallery setting, and there are CD copies of the sound peice if anyone is interested contact me: jimggmij@gmail.com

This old structure has a series of holes leading all the way up through the five stories, to an opening into the sky. a single tree grows right through the opening, rooted in the cracked cement and piled debris of bottles, bags, and feces. Besides a nice homeless fellow who lives on the top floor the building is left for wanderers and explorers like us. We drank and filled the walls with debris of our own like many have before us. The north Philadelphia building one block off 2nd and poplar is probably already demolished and dreaming of more sterile grounds.

Tasha and me recently took a trip through the West coast for the first time. With the help of a lot of friends, and free floors to sleep on, we made it through and left some marks along the way. Here are some photos and documentation of our work and adventures. With the aid of some other artists and freaks we did some pieces and group project work. Using the overlapping of everyones images, stencils, and xerox copies, we made some collective effort boards...condoning that we do eat scrambled eggs for breakfast every day.

These are a series of landscapes that i did within the Philadelphia/Pennsylvania area. My observation is much more of an encounter. I am documenting my time with the tree or place, conceptualizing a sort of an emotionally expressive portrait rather than a representation.

oil paint, charcoal, pastel, watercolor, graphite I like to mix and experiment with different mediums, with whatever means it takes to fulfill the physical strain that is a necessity in the mood/emotional content.

Abandoned hotel turned squat building which was rigged with electricity and everything except any toilets, hence the nickname paradise shitty. Smelled like hell but i remember lounging out watching 'Malcolm in the middle' on rigged cable in this pad. now it is once again abandoned after continuous raids.

The abandoned oil refinery near 49th and woodland was home to many people of different kinds. The walls were filled with graph art, paste art, squatter scribbles, and artistic decay of all sorts. Here is some work me and tash, and various others have contributed. The premesis was recently demolished and now these pictures are basically all thats left.
