An abstract paintings series displayed at SunLife Financial in Kitchener Ontario between August 6 and 26.
Discourse is:
Attempting to bring forward an open discourse on what the beautiful is, I create paintings that try to evoke the viewers’ subjective interpretation through their simplicity in color palette and absence of figurative representation. I created these chaotic “flows” of paint by alternating between conscious and subconscious states of mind. As a whole, my paintings are as much improvised as they are designed. Usually I start with a very loose idea of the layout, and then I let my hand drag paint freely over the canvas, creating the chaotic “backbone” of organic forms. Towards the conclusion of the painting, I manipulate and alter the chaos into it’s final composition; this gives me both a feeling of control and the humbling experience to relive life in a sense that acknowledges the chaotic primordial matter that came to be before me, and nature and civilization.
