Organic Bicone

Organic Bicone

(GeneseeGlassworks)
I love organic beads, they are perfect for letting glass be what it will. Here is a long bicone shaped bead tipped in black to accentuate and compliment the center organic. Organics are my comfort bead to make!

(LOZANOGLASSART)
Lozano Glassworks
Today's Art, Tomorrow's Antiques

Danny Lozano began flame working glass in 2001 in the heart of the valley located in beautiful Corvallis, Oregon. A primarily self taught artist, his medium in glass requires the use of compressed gases to manipulate the material with the use of an industrial torch fueled by propane and oxygen. With the majority of the work done in front of a torch all the pieces are put together solely by the artist without the use of any molds, pre-drawn images or assistance.

Lozano Glass incorporates some of the most contemporary techniques known to the world of borosilicate glass such as fuming with precious metals, switchback montages, and writing characters in glass. You can also find classical Italian techniques such as lattichino, incalmo, and reticellos to his array of glass art. With these techniques he begins with a base material usually of the Pyrex or Simax brand. Piece by piece a project is started. Blending passion, technique, and guided by a balance of color sometimes rich with excitement or subdued in an earth tone tranquility, a piece is started.

The excitement of his art not only resides in the finished piece, but also in the infancy of the material being worked. This particular type of glass (chemical composition) is less than a century old while other glass compositions have been around for thousands of years. Colors, techniques and innovations in borosilicate glass are in the midst of a renaissance . There is a revolution in ideas and techniques occurring in this particular field of glassblowing that has the community excited for its future. As a member of this movement, Danny would like to thank you for taking a moment of your time to view and explore his work.

Four Seasons Commission

Four Seasons Commission

(FLowingDesigns)
This is a set of 4 windows recently commissioned. All are reverse gilded/reverse painted and all include an icon representing the season she is in. Fall is my favorite. Each season has her head turning a different way so at the end of the four a full circle has been made.
Goddess Goblet - A New Life

Goddess Goblet - A New Life

(DeMoss)
So we just found out that my wife Shelly is pregnant. It was on April fools day, so that was fun to let our families know.
I am so excited! Yesterday I made our child's first gift. I will probably give it to him/her when they are out of highschool or something like that. I'll be able to say that I made it for them the day after I found out we were going to have them.
It was fun to make it. I used it as a chance to really meditate on what it will be like to be a father and how much of a gift it is. So I put a lot of good energy into this piece.

There are a few things wrong with it that I decided not to fix. For one, everyone has a few problems, it adds character. And another reason is that when I was getting towards the end, two racoons started fighting (or making crazy rough love) above my shop in a storage loft. I ran out and dealt with them. Now it will become part of the story that goes along with the glass.

So I hope you like it. I've never done a Goddess style before, but I think it turned out alright. So cheers to all of the great parents out there raising great kids. I can't wait to experience the magic of discovering what this world is all about again.
